Betsy Weaver, Ed.D., educator, entrepreneur, innovator, and storyteller, worked in President Carter’s Administration in the newly formed Department of Education with Dr. Ed Martin. She returned to Boston, where she worked in the Boston Public Schools department of Policy and Practice. Assuring BPS received all PL.94, 142 funds due.
She received an MS.Ed. at Bank St. in 2017 Then found and taught at the Parent Cooperative - Bronx River Community.
A four-time founder across education, media, and digital health, she has spent her career building innovative, education/research-aligned solutions that expand children’s capacity to be learn and grow and has inspirational tools helping them go beyond what is to what they and the world could be.
Weaver’s entrepreneurial impact journey began...with Parent Plus and The Boston Parents Paper. New England’s most trusted parenting publication, reaching over 100,000 families monthly - elevating the voices and needs of parents and families. She was then one of the national founders of the Parenting Publication National Media Association. Parents Plus was acquired in 2000 and continues to serve.
Weaver then founded UbiCare, the first digital health communication company that pioneered evidence-based messaging between hospitals and families — a model now ubiquitous worldwide. Plus it was used by the US Military for 17 yr. to improve maternal, infant, and family health outcomes. UbiCare was acquired and continues to serve.
Weaver’s newest venture, The Changers Adventures®, brings together her lifelong commitments to early childhood learn, how to imagine, beyond what is, and imagining what could be! original quest-based fantasy learning books, games, audio, and video quest - gives young children a special way to listen, engage, learn, allowing their them ‘mind doodle’ .....All rooted in Bank Street principles of child-centered, progressive learning, The Changers Adventures® is poised to contribute to this generation’s going beyond what is and shaping what can be for the world they inherit.
Across all her work, Weaver has remained a champion for children, families, and educators — designing systems, stories, and tools that honor all their natural curiosity and expand their capacity to challenge and go beyond. Her career reflects/ represents Bank Street’s values.
